How I Found My Love!!
I found myself a new love! though not in a form that most people would think, but its also a living thing and I have fallen so hard in love with it that I do not think i can let go! Now, the name of this my new found love is none other
than MORINGA!
Yes, moringa. I know a lot of people have heard about the this wonder plant and its various benefits that are medicinal, but I bet a lot of people do not know about the various flexible ways that this wonderful plant can be used for nutritional diet.
Am opportune to have this plant which has grown into a beautiful tree in my compound and though initially I ignored it because naturally, am not the kind of person that gets swept away easily by people's craze about a particular thing, and when the craze was so on and pronounced about the Moringa seed (Seed because that was how I first knew it before reality hit me) and all it can do, I always waved it aside and ignored it even when my aunt got the plant and planted in the house I practically laughed at her about her obsession with it. We watched it grow and every morning, my aunt will pluck a handful of its leaves and boil as tea which i never took despite all her tricks to get me to do so.
You wondering how i then came to love the plant? well...It all started one faithful morning, I was tired of eating half baked meat pie (Christ! it was so horrible but I had no choice...Well though then I didn't) and a soft drink which i usually take at work everyday and decided that I would be waking up early to prepare my own breakfast and lunch to work. So, that morning, I woke up early and decided to prepare porridge yam and in the course of it, I realize i did not buy any vegetable the previous day for it (I hate porridge without vegetable in it) I almost aborted the cooking mission but I took a look outside the mind while thinking of what to do and there it was staring back at me! The Moringa!
I have never used it before and have totally avoided the tea my aunt makes with it, so I did not even know how to use it but I remembered that she says that it can even be used as a vegetable in cooking and so it hit me. I quickly walked to the tree, looked at it for some few minutes, heaved a sign and proceed to pluck some leaves. Naturally I love very fresh vegetables so I made sure I plucked the freshest green leaves washed them and set aside, all through, I was skeptical of using them but my love for vegetable will not let me cook my porridge yam without it.
When I use spinach (Green) or Fluted Pumpkin Leaves (Ugu) to cook my porridge or anything at all, I always make sure its added at the very end of my cooking to keep it fresh. So just some few minutes to the end of my cooking, I added the moringa leaves (They are so tiny that you do not have to slice them, but for that first time I did slice them) stirred and put off the flames.
I tasted it and was shocked!, it was so tasty!! All through my bath and dressing up, what kept going through my mind was how come I always neglected the Moringa tree (And I had not even googled it myself to find out it's wonderful benefits), Happily I packed my food and headed to work and immediately I got to my desk, the first thing I did was to google the benefits of moringa and its uses and was amazed at what I found and ever since, I never let any opportunity to include the moringa leave in my food
But the Internet do not give all does it? So, in the next coming days, I would be showing us how to use the moringa leaves in different and amazing ways that you will love, that I promise
